Broadway Floral has been part of Northeast Portland since 1928. Nearly a century later, we're still a family-owned, real local florist: every arrangement is designed by hand in our Broadway shop, from fresh, often unusual flowers we buy from growers near and far.

Our story
Broadway Floral opened in 1928, and our parent company, Canby Floral, has been in the flower business since the 1890s. Since then, Broadway Floral has built its reputation on three things: the freshest flowers, inventive design and genuinely personal service. Generations of Portlanders have trusted us with their birthdays, weddings, celebrations and goodbyes, and many of today's customers are the grandchildren of our first.
Our designers work in every style, from classic and traditional to lush English-garden looks to sleek, contemporary pieces. What they share is a respect for the flowers and a habit of reaching for something a little unexpected.
Shops that joined our family
Over the years, several of Portland's best-loved neighborhood florists have become part of Broadway Floral, and their customers came with them.
- Burlingame Flowers (since 1953). Violet Patella started selling flowers inside the Terwilliger Market and soon outgrew it, opening Burlingame Flowers nearby. Her attention to detail made it a Southwest Portland favorite. After her passing in 2006, Burlingame joined Broadway, and her standards still guide us.
- Oswego Palisades Florist (since 1955). It opened when Lake Oswego was still a small bedroom community and grew along with the town. Its design staff joined Broadway in 2008.
- Irvington Floral. Alaina Nearing ran one of Portland's first European-style flower shops, first in the Lloyd District's Holladay Market and then at the Irvington Market. In 2004 her designers and customers joined Broadway, and we kept the Irvington Market's sidewalk flower displays blooming after that.
A vintage greenhouse in the city
Our design studio and shop fill a vintage greenhouse, one of the few left in urban Portland. The original hand cranks still open the rooftop vents on warm days, and the light-filled space keeps our plants happy and our designers inspired.
The building is quietly efficient too: its translucent triple-wall roof lets in natural light while holding the sun's warmth, which the thick concrete floor stores and releases through the day.
Flower carts on the sidewalk
Like a European flower market, our fresh flowers are displayed on carts along the Broadway sidewalk. Build your own bouquet from one of Portland's broadest selections of cut flowers, or pick up a hand-tied bouquet from our ever-changing seasonal offerings.
In spring, the carts fill with annuals, perennials and hanging baskets. In December they're piled with wreaths and fragrant Christmas greens.
More than flowers
Inside you'll find tropical and blooming plants, home décor, personal care, baby gifts, plush toys and work by local makers. Our holiday collection is one of Portland's best, with ornaments from Old World Christmas, Cody Foster, Kurt Adler and more, displayed in themes so it's easy to find the right one for everyone on your list.
